Our stay at Primary Children's Hospital

Anna woke up Saturday itching really bad. I put her in the shower and she went back to sleep. We had a long day the day before at Lagoon so she was still tired. When she woke up later the rash had gotten worse. I called and talked to a nurse and she said to give her Benadryl. After 2 doses of that it was still getting worse, plus her right had was swollen.

This was before it got too bad.
I took her into the clinic that evening and they prescribed her the steroid Prednisone. She was still happy, but itchy, that night. She woke up Sunday morning at 3am in so much pain and the rash was worse. Her eyes were almost swollen shut, both her hands and feet were swollen now too. She would just cry and ask us to please take her spots off. Her hands were really hurting her and she started to throw up. After she threw up the first time, she looked at Shaun and said "I'm sorry daddy." It was so sad. Finally at 7:30 we got ready and took her up to Primary's.

The doctors diagnosed her with something called Erythema Multiforme. Which I guess is just an allergic reaction to something foreign, nothing specific. They prescribed her an anti-itch medication and we went home. That day Anna wanted to be carried everywhere since her feet were swollen and hurt so bad. She still itched, the medication didn't really do much.

We gave her a bath in Aveeno Oatmeal to try to help with the itching.

Sunday night Anna wanted to sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa's house. I didn't want to leave her there alone in case it was another bad night. Sure enough it was horrible. I felt bad, my mom slept with Anna and I went in the other room. I was exhausted from the previous nights. They were up all night and even watched a movie at 2am. She finally fell asleep from 4-6:45, then woke up screaming for me. We took her back into the clinic that morning and the Dr. that saw us sent us back to Primary's to have her admitted.

They sent quite a few doctors in to see her, they were even going to have a Rheumatologist come in since her joints, knees, hands, feet, face, etc... were so swollen. When the dermatologist came in she said right away that it wasn't Erythema Multiforme and diagnosed her with Acute Serum Sickness. Anna had just gotten done taking the drug Omnicef for an ear infection. She had been on it before and was fine, but not this time. She had an allergic reaction to it and broke out in this horrible rash.

We went on wagon rides through the hospital and just hung out.

We went into the hospital on Monday and we were able to leave on Wednesday. By Wednesday she was feeling much better and was getting back to her crazy self. It felt so good to be home!!

We had lot's of visitor's and gifts. Thank you to all those that came and helped pass the time. She loved to see you all and so did we.

Lagoon 2009

Last year we wasted $22 on a Lagoon pass for Anna. This year it was well worth the $22 spent. Anna had a great time at Lagoon and wanted to ride on all the big rides. There were a few rides that she was too short to ride on, so we put a diaper under her hat and she was suddenly taller when going through the line. I couldn't let go of her head when it was under there, but it got the job done.

Wheeler Farm

My cousin Anthony had offered to take some pictures of Anna. Since I am horrible getting her picture taken we were more than happy to let him. We met at Wheeler Farm and Anna was anything but pleasant. She was so happy until Anthony showed up with the camera. She buried her face in my neck and cried and wouldn't let me put her down. She did not cooperate in the least. I was so sad! I had to put her down and run so I wouldn't be in the pic. We got a few but it could have turned out better. It was crazy because she was so excited and talked about it the whole way there, but when it came down to it she went nutz.

4th of July

On the 4th of July we did what we always do, went to the Granite Parade. This year Grandpa Neil drove all the grand kids on the float that Grandma decorated. They had a great time. Anna was more interested in eating the candy than throwing it. Shaun finally convinced her to throw it once they were half way through the parade.

After the parade we went swimming. Shaun had asked Anna if she wanted to jump off the diving board and she said no. Then she found out Ryder was going to do it so she quickly changed her mind. After a couple of jumps she yelled "hey everybody watch me!" she surprised us all by doing a front flip. I didn't catch the flip on film but I did get Shaun's look of surprise and excitement when she did it.

When she did her flip Shaun said it was his proudest moment as a father, even more so then her first time on skis. No one had told her to do it, she did it all on her own and surprised us all. I love to watch her swim, she puts her head in the water and wiggles it back and forth while kicking her legs. It's super cute, I can't believe how long she can hold her breath.

Crazy Faces

I had the camera outside and Anna asked me to take some pictures of her. She started pulling all these crazy faces and poses. I don't know where she gets these from, but they are hilarious. I'm just glad we were able to capture a few of them. They show a little of the personality this girl has.

We were at the mall and I had turned my back for a second. Then I hear "mom take my picture". She fit's right in with the models. There is never a dull moment with this girl!!

Big Week

Our little girl is getting to be a big girl. We had an eventful week. We got rid of the binky and took off the front of her crib so now it's now a toddler bed. She loves the bed this way...I miss the crib. Nap's are almost non-existent now that she can get out of bed. :(

Anna has always been a great sleeper. We would read stories, sing songs and lay her down, rarely any fussing. The last week was a different story, she would kick and scream and bang her head into the wall (really hard) when put in her crib. We took the binky away because she wouldn't stop hitting her head. I explained to her over and over that if she hit her head we would throw it away. She understood. We put her in bed and within 30 seconds she was going crazy and hitting her head. I went in popped the binky out and shut the door behind me. She screamed and cried for 45 min's. It was really sad but cute. She kept saying "I am so so so mad at my mom." over and over. Then she fell asleep. The next day she would tell everyone that her mom threw her binky in the garbage but we were going to go home and get it out.

The next night she didn't want to get in her bed and she wanted her binky, but it was gone. We put her mattress on the floor and she slept on it. At 5:00 she woke up wanting her pillow. When I went in she was under her bed, so we put her back in bed and she fell back asleep. Didn't even ask for the binky.

Saturday we took the front of her crib off. She was excited to have a big girl bed, but it took 2 hours of in and out before she went to sleep. The next night she did great, but when Shaun woke up at 6:45 and peeked in on her she was gone. He found her under her bed again.

Soon after that she ended up coming into our bed. She weasels her way in by saying "I promise I will be so so quite." She wasn't quite and she doesn't stop moving.

Now we get to work on potty training. I'm not excited about this one. I don't care that she's still in a diaper, it's so much easier and convenient to change her a couple times a day rather then run to the potty lot's of times a day. 2 year old's are so much fun!!!

Happy 33rd Shaun

We celebrated Shaun turning 33 with a last minute BBQ at my parents house. We had a great time and were glad people like Shaun enough to come celebrate his birthday with him. Or maybe it was because they wanted a free meal. Either way it was a good time.

Anna's 1st ER trip

Last week we went down to St. George. Shaun had to do some work down there and since his parent's have a condo down there, Anna and I tagged along. It was nice to get away for a little bit. Anna was excited we were going on vacation because that usually means we get to go swimming. We were planning on it too. We got into St. George late Tuesday night, Shaun worked all day Wednesday while Anna and I hung out at the condo. That night we went to Pizza Factory for dinner.

On Thursday Shaun had some work to do in Cedar City which left us at home without a car. I decided that it would be a fun adventure to take the bus over to the outlet mall. Anna loves to see the buses while driving so it would be even more fun for her to ride on one. Plus, I'm 29 and never had taken a UTA bus. The bus stop is just in front of the condo so it seemed easy enough...it was. We rode for 45 mins (lot's of stops). Just when we got off the bus by the mall I was putting up the stroller and Anna's stuck her hand out and something from the stroller got it. Blood EVERYWHERE!! I thought I had cut off her finger, thankfully I didn't. After several four letter words and blood soaked wet wipes I was able to see that she had cut her pinkie finger pretty bad. It was wide open and the fatty pad of her finger was coming out. I had no idea what to do, Shaun was 45 mins away in Cedar City, I had no car, my child was screaming. So instead of walking up to the mall we walked a mile in the opposite direction to the hospital. We went into insta-care first (which was in the parking lot of the hospital) and they were nice enough to look at it for me but they sent me to the ER. They took her blood pressure, which Anna thought was funny and had a good laugh. We went back into a room and had 3 x-rays taken, which she did good with. When it was just the 2 of us in the room, she would ask "Where's my nurse?" When the nurse would come in she would tell them that she had her blood pressure taken. Nothing was fractured, but she needed 2 stitches. When they numbed her finger she wanted to cry because she knew they were doing something with her hurt finger, but then she would laugh because she couldn't feel it anymore.

She thought it was pretty cool that they gave her a bracelet with her name on it. Every time someone came in the room she would show them and tell them that it said Anna Jane Moyes.

She did great, she got lot's of stickers, coloring books, crayons and Dora band aids. Now if you get close to her finger she says "be careful with my finger."

Now we get to go back down so we can take her swimming!!

It's been 7 days and Whitney and Grandma took the stitches out today. I was lucky enough not to have to be there, but they saved them so she could show me. She handed them to me and said to put them in her book. No one told her to say that, she came up with it on her own. But how horrible am I, I don't have a book for her. That might be my next project.

**Those 4 pictures are all I took of St. George, my camera doesn't take good pictures anymore so I borrowed my mom's, I lost it so now I only have my phone. Unfortunately I will be buying 2 camera's sometime soon.**

Lava Hot Springs

For Valentines weekend we went up to Lava Hot Springs with the Trost's and Christiansens, courtesy of the Trost's. It was so much fun, a little chaotic with 5 kids all under the same roof, but they too had a great time. We spent Saturday afternoon swimming at the local pool. All the kids were little fish. They had the water wings on and couldn't be stopped. They would swim to the stairs, climb out and jump off the edge. No fear!!

Trouble

It was snowing like crazy when we finished dinner. The flakes were huge and the kids had a great time playing in it.

After dinner we hit up the Hot Springs. I wish we had some close around here, they were so nice and relaxing to sit in.

We stayed up late (3:45 am) playing games and having a good time. Of course whoever lost the game had to do something nasty.

Jesse lost 2 of the 4 games played. He had to eat a super super spicy almond the first time and the second time he had to eat the rest of the frosting in the container. There was about 2/3 left of the container. I lost one game and had to drink a mixture of energy drink, syrup and 2 junior mints, I ended up dry heaving. Shaun had to drink baby formula.

While we were playing games the girls decided to play "stickers". They found a whole bunch of them in the bathroom.
